Moth I.D.

Mike Crewe, who capably stepped into my old job at CMBO,  once told me he had a "disease" that insisted he identify everything he encounters in nature. Here's a symptom - and thanks Mike!

"A quick look at your moth pic [scroll down to the 4-species shot]:

Top right is Deep-yellow Euchlaena (Euchlaena amoenaria)

Center bottom (pale with black dot) is Umber Moth (Hypomecis umbrosaria)

The top center looks like some species of shark (Cucullaria sp.)

Bottom left, don't know!"

Mike asked me to send the full-sized pics so he can have a fiar crack at the two he couldn't pin down, which I will once I'm back from Alaska (writing from our Fairbanks hotel at the moment).
